Gerard Butler has a very interesting workout regimen that is more calisthenics based to help the lean figure but the muscles show at the same time. Different people call this workout the “300 workout” due to Butler being in this kind of shape before his starting role in the Frank Miller adaption “300″, a more fictional based tale off the Battle of Thermopylae. The workout consists of actual training an in shape soldier would go through such as circuit training. Basically, each exercise would be done until failure meaning until you can’t do it anymore. For example, a person would do a certain amount of dumbbell deadlifts usually up to around 25 reps. After the 25 reps, he would rest for about a minute and resume this process for another 3-5 sets. The same would repeat with different exercises such as jump roping for 2 minutes to build the cardiovascular system up. So you are not only becoming lean, but you are using your muscle strength as well. To keep the metabolism going, it’s recommended to eat every two to three hours to make sure the body does not tap into the stored fat. This way you can build up the muscle faster. The diet consists of eating lean meats such as lean turkey/chicken breasts and fish/eggs to build protein. What’s recommended to build the carbohydrates are potatoes. Although, eating lean and healthy is the main purpose, do not forget the healthy fats such as peanut butter, flaxseed oil, avocados, and more. This is the type of diet that whip the body in great shape after a few months if done correctly and persistently.
