Many know Gerard Butler as the famous Scottish actor. Butler is known for his roles in Attila, Dracula 2000, Reign of Fire, Nim’s Island, The Ugly Truth, Phantom of the Opera and many more. He was announced to the world as an actor in 1997, with a small role in the James Bond movie Tomorrow Never Dies. While he played in smaller roles when he first began acting, Attila and Dracula 2000 produced a strong following for the actor.
Gerard isn’t like most actors, he didn’t set his acting goal with acting classes and auditions. His acting career began with a cup of coffee, as he was discovered in a coffee shop in Scotland. Gerard Butler grew up in Paisley, Scotland with two older siblings. His parents divorced when he was two-years-old and his father wasn’t present in his life for the majority of his early years. Despite not having his father around, they formed a special bond when Gerard was sixteen. Unfortunately, his Dad passed away when Gerard was in his twenties.
Gerard has always been outgoing, communal, and ambitious. He attended Law school at Glasgow University where he was highly involved in the Law Society. Gerard decided to put his heart and soul into acting shortly after finishing law school. He began with the on-stage production of Trainspotting, this role allowed him to realize that he wanted to focus on acting and not law. Becoming an actor didn’t affect Gerard’s ability to socialize with everyone. In fact, his fans report him as extremely nice and down to earth. He takes the time to socialize with his fans. Gerard has worked alongside: Steven Berkoff, Pierce Bronson, Angelina Jolie, Hilary Swank and several others. Butler is currently working on the movie, Mavericks.
